2026 Holiday Events in Middletown: Tree Lighting, Parade & More
Looking for Middletown DE events to fill your holiday calendar? Downtown Middletown has a full season planned, from decorated lamp posts along Main Street to a tree lighting on the square, a morning parade with Santa, and classic films on the big screen. Here is what is on the calendar for November and December 2026, all in one place, so you can pick your favorites and make plans with the family.
Lamp Post Decorating: November 7 to 26
The season starts with a slow reveal on East and West Main Street. During Lamp Post Decorating, local businesses and families dress up the street's lamp posts, and all 41 are spoken for this year. Decorating begins Saturday, November 7, and displays must be finished by Thursday, November 26, so Main Street will change a little every time you visit.
You get a say in this one. Online community voting opens Saturday, November 28, and the winner is announced at the parade on December 5. Registration for 2026 is closed, so the only job left for the rest of us is to stroll, enjoy the displays, and pick a favorite.
Christmas Tree Lighting and Caroling: November 27
The day after Thanksgiving, downtown gathers to welcome the season. The Christmas Tree Lighting and Caroling takes place Friday, November 27, at 5:30 p.m. at Town Square, at the four corners intersection. Expect the lighting of the tree, live caroling, and a community celebration with friends and neighbors. It is free and open to all, which makes it an easy tradition to start with the kids.

Holiday Spectacular Parade: December 5
The big one steps off Saturday, December 5, at 10 a.m. The Holiday Spectacular Parade brings festive floats, marching bands, holiday performers, and Santa Claus through the heart of downtown. The parade begins at Everett Meredith Middle School, heads north on South Broad Street, turns west on West Main Street, and ends at South Scott Street.
Spectators can line South Broad Street or West Main Street, and Town Square is a great spot to catch the special performances, since parade groups stop there to perform. Streets fill up quickly, so arrive early, bundle up for a December morning, and please follow the guidance of event and safety staff along the route. Groups that would like to march can find participant registration on the parade page.
The Great Middletown Cookie Crawl: December 5
Stick around after the parade, because The Great Middletown Cookie Crawl is planned for the same day in Downtown Middletown. The time, participating locations, pricing, and purchase information are still to be announced, so save the date and check the event page for updates as they are confirmed.
Holiday Films and Theater at The Everett
The Everett Theatre at 47 W. Main Street has a seasonal lineup worth planning around. Here is what the theatre currently lists. Details are subject to change, so confirm dates, times, and tickets with the organizer.
